Software engineer Scott Carr was looking for a picturesque spot for bridal pictures the day before his wedding when he came across the school of fish trying to avoid the lemon sharks.

Doting mum Kimya cares for her 3-week-old newborn, who has recently been named Kanzi, at Melbourne Zoo. Meet The Dutch Owl Who Loves To Land On People’s Heads

An owl that likes to land on people’s heads has rocketed a small Dutch town to fame. Menno Shaefer, a 48-year-old from Zaandam, Netherlands, managed to document this friendly 6lb (2.7kg) European Eagle Owl as it tried to roost on the heads of onlookers in Noordeinde town. There, it sat for up to a minute before looking for another resting spot.

“Whilst photographing the owl, it did try to land one my head once,” said Shaefer to NL Times. “However, as soon as I lifted my camera to get a shot, the owl flew onto my neighbor standing by my side.” Residents think that the owl might have escaped from an aviary in Oosterwolde, and are excited by the publicity. “I have seen photographers and birders from around the country, from The Hague to Spijkenisse, they come from everywhere to see the eagle owl. Our village is finally on the map!” , said one happy resident.

As to why the owl behaves this way, Schaefer said, “It was a very funny thing to watch, however I’m just as confused as anyone as to why it does this.”

The mesmerising close-up shots show the remarkable ocular variety the creatures have developed through millions of years of evolution. Professional wildlife photographer Daniel Heuclin travelled the world to capture the images of various tropical frogs and lizards peering straight into the lens.

Windows to the soul: A slender-legged treefrog poses patiently for his picture He was struck by the differences he found - from the bright red iris of a Cuban tree frog to the exquisite mosaic pattern of a chameleon's eye. 'I was enchanted by the strange beauty of these interesting creature's striking eyes,' said the 65-year-old Frenchman. 'It took me a few minutes to take the photographs, but they will be extraordinarily different forever. 'My favourite image is of the chameleon's eye - the texture and palette of colours in such a small space is astonishing. 'Mr Heuclin, from Vaux en Couhe, France, snapped the tomato frog and chameleon in Madagascar. The Tokay gecko was photographed on Panay island, in the Phillipines, and the Monarch gecko in Luzon, Phillipines. The slender-legged tree frog was captured in French Guiana and the Cuban tree frog in Everglades Nal park. The Cape verde gecko and the green tree frog were observed in captivity. Mr Heuclin specialises in photographing reptiles, amphibians and rare species.
